We took Clark to his first church service today at King of Glory Lutheran Church (on LBJ & Hillcrest). Today was the beginning of our pursuit to find a church home. We've prayed about this for over a year now, and done nothing or just not listened to what God was telling us. We're listening now, and I we long for the spiritually centered relationships which come from church involvement. We want to be a part of our community and get involved. As Christians, we need a Sanctuary - an escape - from the worldy ideas, temptations, noises, etc. We are not being led to one particular denomination, but feel that we are looking for a church whose worship and ministers are Christ-centered, whose childrens ministry is strong, and who has various opportunities for people like us to fellowship with other couples with children. Hopefully, we'll find a HOME soon! Pray for us!
We intended to take Clark into the sanctuary and actually did at first, but he was making more noise than we anticipated. It was fun to go through this for the first time. We signed in, got our beeper, and turned over Clark and his baby bag. Maybe some moms have felt that feeling of excitement that your baby is in the nursery for the 1st time, but also feel separation. I am keenly aware right now that this is only the beginning of the places Clark will go where I may not follow. :-( Bittersweet! He enjoyed his playtime with Ms Bonnie and Ms. Gloria. He is such a lady's man already; giving that crooked smile and batting those beautiful eye lashes! Other childcare helpers were coming into the toddler room to get his hugs and smile!
Anyhoo, the sermon and worship were traditional and the people were exceptionally friendly. Everything was Christ-and Bible-centered, not filled with socio-political agendas which draw us back into the world. It was very refreshing. I'm thinking we'll visit again after we've tried some other churches. Clark seemed to especially enjoy this trip because he was riding in his new Safety First Alpha Omega All-in-One Car seat. Pretty awesome and much more fitting than his newborn carrier. It's NUTS he is no longer able to be in one of those...this early!
I uploaded some pictures from Clark at 5mths, 1 week and 1 day: Enjoy! Some include him in the new Bath sit and spin he just got. So far, so good! The best part of this shots is capturing Clark discover toys in his tub. He tries to get them and eventually succeeds! Yay! The rest of the pictures are Clark posing in his beautiful jumper my Mom and Dad gave him, and Clark riding to Church. We also took some family pictures!
Okay, I'm out! I hope you are blessed and well!
